Man arrested after A38 crash

A woman died as a result of the crash near Plymouth last night.

A 33 year old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. 

Emergency services were called to the Exeter-bound carriageway at the Leigham/Estover interchange just after 6.30pm last night (Tuesday 12th September)

The crash involved a silver Audi A4 and an HGV. The female driver of the Audi had been struck in the collision.

Police say a 54 year old female was located and given first aid, but died at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by a Family Liaison Officer.

Officers have thanked the public for their patience whilst the road was closed. 

Any witnesses are asked to contact the Police on 101 quoting Log 746 11/09/2018.

The 33 year old remains in police custody for questioning.
