Torquay police target county line dealers

Three detained. One with a knife

Police in Torquay are intensifying their efforts to combat County Lines drug trafficking.

A recent operation targeted drug dealers, leading to the seizure of drugs, a suspected stolen watch, and a significant sum of cash.

Two individuals were detained: one found with £1,300 and a burner phone, and another in possession of a locking blade.

The operation involved 19 intelligence-led visits to vulnerable people to offer support and prevent exploitation by organised crime groups.

In addition, officers visited nearly 40 local accommodations to educate staff about the signs of County Lines activity, such as "cuckooing," where criminals take over a vulnerable person's home.

Inspector Chris Lithgow said: “A large part of our action also involves officers safeguarding vulnerable people and educating the public around county lines and exploitation.”
