Topsham To Get an Aldi Supermarket Despite Opposition

Plans to build an Aldi in Topsham have been given the green light, following a meeting at Exeter City Council last night.

Councillors at Exeter City Council were recommended to refuse planning permission for an Aldi Store in the town, when they met to discuss the application yesterday evening.

However, councillors voted against the recommended refusal by just one vote.  This was followed by a unanimous vote in favour of planning permission, meaning that the plans can now go ahead.

Councillors voted in favour of the new supermarket plans because they claim it will "offer a different type of shopping to that available at the proposed Seabrook Orchards local centre."

The supermarket will have to adhere to planning conditions set out in an earlier report.
