BT is to roll out part of its £2.5bn high-speed broadband network to homes and businesses in Tiverton, Dawlish and Honiton.
The areas are set to recieve the upgrade in 2013 - properties will be eligable for speeds up to 330 megabytes per second - capacity for a music album to download in several seconds.
The Federation of Small Businesses say it will bring a boost for businesses, internet users and the local economy, with potential to create new enterprises and local jobs.
The telecom firm has recently been critisised for failing to provide a universal high-speed service in Exeter.
