Next of kin of all of those who have died have been informed by Devon and Cornwall Police officers.

One eyewitness interviewed by the BBC, Sharron, who lives near Biddick Drive said: "Firstly, there was shouting, followed by gunshots - three possibly four to begin with."

"It looked like the old .22 air-rifles, but obviously it wasn't because of what he did with it. I didn't think too much of it - until I heard what happened."

Devon and Cornwall chief constable Shaun Sawyer has been in contact with Home Secretary Priti Patel about the incident, which began around 6.10 p.m. on Thursday.
