An East Devon tourist attraction is closed today after a lorry collided with overhead power lines.
The accident happened, when the HGV transporting a digger, crashed into the cables that are used by Seaton Tramway.
Seaton Tramway published a statement earlier today saying:
Due to the continuing repairs after the incident today with the driver of an HGV taking down the overhead power lines at Colyford Level Crossing, we will unfortunately not be able to open on Friday 13th April.
Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused to our passengers and we hope to be open for business on Saturday 14th April at 10am
Shortly before midday today an over height HGV loaded with a digger, caused damage to the overhead power cables on the Colyford crossing, located on the A3052 creating severe disruption to Seaton Tramway. No one was injured In the incident.
As a result of the damage by the HGV, the tramway has had to suspend its service. All passengers are being taken by coach to their respective starting points.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused to any of our passengers and hope to be up running again as soon as the damage can be repaired by our engineering team.
Repairs are being carried out today and they hope to reopen tomorrow morning.
