Rugby boost for unemployed young peopole

Unemployed young people in Exeter are to be offered help boosting their skills and confidence in a project linked to the Rugby World Cup.

Twelve 16 to 24 year olds will be offered places on a programme based on sports coaching techniques, to increase their confidence and enable them to draw up an action plan for achieving their goals.

The aim is for them all to progress into work, an apprenticeship or further training.

The programme involves several organisations including the city council, the Exeter Chiefs, Jobcentre Plus and a local leadership and team development company.

It's hoped that businesses will come on board to sponsor the initiative so that it can be extended to more young people.
