Queen unveils new plaque

Queen Camilla officially opened Exeter's new Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) today.

Her Majesty is a long-time advocate for survivors of sexual violence and arrived to unveil a plaque at the new facility.

SARCs provide crucial support to anyone affected by rape, sexual assault, or abuse, regardless of when the assault occurred.

Funded by NHS England with support from the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, the Exeter SARC features state-of-the-art facilities meeting the latest forensic standards.

It offers advanced medical services, and dedicated therapy suites, and operates as a pediatric centre of excellence.

"We work tirelessly to ensure anyone who has experienced sexual harm knows specialist help and support is available," said Lyndsay Howell, General Manager of Devon & Cornwall SARC. "Having Her Majesty open our new centre is a great honour, and we hope it highlights the safe and dedicated care we provide."

The Exeter SARC, like others in Plymouth and Truro, is open 24/7, 365 days a year.
It offers a 24-hour information line (0300 303 4626) and access is by appointment only.
