Organiser goes bust
The forthcoming English Riviera Food & Music Festival scheduled to take place at Torre Abbey Meadows, Torquay over the Whitsun break, has been cancelled.
The event company Case Live has stopped trading and liquidators have been appointed.
It such circumstances, it is unlikely that anyone who has bought tickets will get their money back, unless that have financial protection through their credit card provider, which normally applies for purchases of more than £100.
The company was only formed last August, by 26-year-old Toby Darvill. His previous company was dissolved after just 18 months in 2021.
In a statement provided by Torbay Council, which had provided £20,000 towards the event, Case Live said: “We are extremely disappointed to have had to take the decision to cancel the English Riviera Food & Music Festival. The rising costs and strain on disposable income have sadly left the event unattainable. We know this is incredibly disappointing for all stakeholders, as it is for us as organisers and not a decision, we've been able to make easily.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused, sadly our companies are entering liquidation, and all ticket holders and stakeholders will be contacted in the coming days. We would like to thank everybody for their support, including artists, partners, suppliers, local businesses and Torbay Council.”
The council's £20,000 investment means Torbay Council will also be a creditor in the liquidation.
