Charity hopes to plug funding gap
This January, residents across Devon can give back to their community and the environment while getting rid of their Christmas tree in a hassle-free way.
Hospiscare, a local charity that provides care for people with terminal illnesses, is running its annual Christmas tree recycling program.
"This is a great opportunity to make a difference this holiday season," says Laura Robertson from Hospiscare. "By recycling your tree with us, you'll be reducing your stress, supporting local families in need, and helping the environment."
Here's how it works:
- Residents in select postcodes (EX1-EX17) can register their tree for collection by January 5th, 2025.
- Hospiscare volunteers will collect trees on Thursday, January 9th, Friday, January 10th, and Saturday, January 11th, 2025.
-A suggested donation of £15 will go directly to support Hospiscare's vital services. The charity provides care for over 2,200 people with terminal illnesses each year and relies on community support to fund 85% of its services.
- Recycling trees reduces landfill waste and lowers carbon emissions. Last year alone, Hospiscare saved over 33,000 kg of CO2e by recycling trees.
