Exeter's Royal Albert Memorial Museum is waiting to find out the value of the hoard of Roman coins discovered in east Devon.
They were unveiled to the public yesterday.
The museum hopes to buy the 22,000, 4th-century coins found by a metal detector enthusiast near Seaton - but must await the announcement by the Treasure Valuation Committee.
In the meantime RAMM has launched a fundraising campaign.
Curator of Antiquities Tom Cadbury says the collection would help the museum illustrate how the Romans lived in this part of Devon.
