Measures to make the railway line at Cowley Bridge in Exeter less vulnerable to flooding are being discussed at a transport conference at County Hall today.
A representative from Network Rail will be outlining the company's plans, which include making changes to culverts and drainage systems, and raising signalling equipment off the ground so that it's not affected by flood water.
Flooding led to severe disruption of train services at the end of last year when the river Exe overflowed on to the railway track.
This week the Environment Agency are holding public meetings on Exeter's flood defences - which also include some protection for the railway.
