Devon and Cornwall Police say they are stepping up efforts to crack down on pop-up brothels.
In the last six months, officers have discovered 14 holiday homes being used as pop up brothels, with many of them operating for just one week or less before moving on.
They say that the majority of the criminal gangs operating them are from Eastern Europe or South East Asia.
Police are now warning owners of holiday lets to be aware of who is renting their properties; they are also asking neighbours to report any suspicious activity.
Inspector Dave Meredith said their priority are the women themselves, many of whom are victims of sex trafficking and human slavery.
