Police reveal figures on cannabis plants seized

Thousands of cannabis plants were found and seized by police in Devon and Cornwall last year. The figures were exclusively obtained by Radio Exe in a Freedom of Information request.

Nearly four and a half thousand cannabis plants were seized by police in Devon and Cornwall last year.

The number in Exeter and East Devon was 710.

The figures were released after a request to police by Radio Exe following news that a cannabis farm had been discovered in Dunkeswell earlier this month.

Police were called to an industrial unit after receiving reports of suspicious activity and discovered a substantial hydroponic set-up.

In 2013 a huge cannabis growing operation was found in a business unit in Exmouth - with around 300 plants valued at around 200 thousand pounds.

And in the latest raid yesterday, more than 60 plants were found at a property in Budleigh.
