Peter Lamble, 47, gets 6 years

A Plymouth man has been jailed for 6 years for non-recent sex offences against a teenager.

Peter Lamble, 47, of Citadel Road, was convicted of sexual activity with a child aged 13-15 and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Despite being found not guilty on some counts and a hung jury on others, the prosecution proceeded with sentencing on the successful convictions.

During the trial, the court heard how Lamble sexually abused the girl at several locations, including in Plymouth and in Cornwall.

The jury failed to reach a verdict on three counts.

DC Alicia Pointon said: “The victim in this case has displayed incredible courage by reporting what happened and remaining engaged throughout the investigation and subsequent court process.

“Peter Lamble has never had the courage to admit what he did and by continuing not to do so he forced the victim to give evidence at a trial.
“It is due to her strength and bravery that he has now been sentenced for his offending.

Lamble will also be on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.

A Plymouth man has been jailed for six years after he was convicted of non-recent child sex offences.

Peter Lamble, 47, of Citadel Road, was sentenced at Plymouth Crown Court on Tuesday 18 February.

He was previously found guilty of sexual activity with a child aged between 13 and 15 and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and has been ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.

Lamble was found not guilty of a further four offences and a jury failed to reach a verdict on another three.

He won't face a retrial on the counts where the jury failed to reach a verdict.

During the trial, the court heard how Lamble sexually abused the girl at a number of locations including in Plymouth and Cornwall.

The victim later confronted Lamble, who apologised and said he didn't know what he was doing.

When Lamble was interviewed by the police, he denied any wrongdoing.

DC Alicia Pointon from Devon and Cornwall Police said: “The victim in this case has displayed incredible courage by reporting what happened and remaining engaged throughout the investigation and subsequent court process.

“Peter Lamble has never had the courage to admit what he did and by continuing not to do so he forced the victim to give evidence at a trial.

“It is due to her strength and bravery that he has now been sentenced for his offending.

“It is never too late to report sexual abuse and any report will be thoroughly investigated by the force.”
