Paraglider rescued from East Devon tree

It's thought he was caught by a gust of wind

A paraglider has been rescued after becoming stuck in a tree in East Devon.

Police officers from Ottery St Mary and Exmouth responded to the incident after he was caught by a gust of wind.

Devon and Cornwall Police say the man was trapped around 30 metres from teh ground after he took off from White Cross on East Hill Strips.

Fire crews were called in and spent 90 minutes trying to resuce the man.

Inspector Mat Helm said: "It must have been very harrowing for the paraglider however he hung on in there and some great work by the fire service got him down safely."
