No more funding for flood-damaged roads, says minister

A Government minister has indicated that Devon's unlikely to receive any further funding to help repair the county's flood-damaged roads.


Transport minister Norman Baker was in Exeter yesterday to open the new Junction 29 on the M5.

He said the Government has increased national road maintenance funding since the Coalition came into power in 2010, and has already promised more than nine million pounds in extra capital funding for highway maintenance... with around six million in the coming financial year and the rest in the following 12 months.

But the  falls well short of the amount councillors think they'll need ... which currently stands at 10 million.
