MP hits out at rail upgrade delays and lack of funding

The MP for Exeter has accused the Government of making false election promises to invest in the south west's rail links. It follows the news that Network Rail's electrification of the Great Western Lane is running up to four years late.

And the Government has now said there won't be any funding for two important studies, providing the evidence for investing in improvements at Dawlish and elsewhere.

Ben Bradshaw says major investment in rail transport was a key election promise for the south west - but one that the Government have failed to honour.
