More time to give views on anti-social behaviour measures

Exeter residents are being given more time to give their views on whether the city council should get tougher on anti-social behaviour such as drinking in the street and using so-called legal highs.

A Public Space Protection Order would give the police and council officers the power to fine people for specific behaviour.

The proposal has attracted criticism - as it could also target homeless people, with penalties for begging or camping out in the street.

The consultation was due to end this week - but has been extended until the end of February.
