Man arrested following Plymouth air-rifle incident

A man was allegedly shot in the chest

A man has been arrested following a firearm incident in Plymouth.

Emergency services were called to the North Hill area of the city at around 5.45am on Tuesday 17 December to reports of a man being shot to the chest by an air rifle.

A 45-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He has been released on police bail.

Armed response units attended the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries not considered life-changing or life-threatening. He has since been discharged.

Local road closures were put in place but later lifted.

There is no wider threat to the public following this incident.
