Man arrested after threatening messages sent to Exeter schools

One reportedly went into lockdown

A man has been arrested on suspicion of malicious communications after threatening messages were made towards multiple schools in Exeter.

At least one school in the city went into 'a soft lockdown' following violent threats on social media.

Devon and Cornwall Police believe that no schools were visited and no injuries have been reported in connection to the incident.

Chief Inspector Chris Conway said:  “I can confirm we are not seeking anyone else in connection to this matter.

“We know that this had been circulated amongst the community and an increased police presence may have caused concern. “At this time we do not believe that any schools had been attended and there were no injuries.

“Please do not speculate about this incident on social media as there is an ongoing investigation but if you have any immediate concerns, please approach the Neighbourhood Team who will be on foot.”
