The Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) programme has won £75,000 in a successful bid to help women start and develop their own businesses using superfast broadband.
The CDS team secured the funding after a bid to the Women and Broadband Challenge Fund that was announced in May by the Minister for Women, Nicky Morgan, who was also made Education Secretary in the last Cabinet reshuffle.
Due to start this September, the scheme will support women particularly in rural areas, looking to start up their own businesses or wishing to grow existing businesses and equip them with the latest digital skills needed to succeed.
Amongst the activities available will be business clubs offering peer to peer support, mentoring, digital clinics and plenty of networking opportunities and events.
