More patrols over half term

Lifeguards will be out in full force this half term because of the rise in swimmers and holidaymakers over the Bank Holiday.

The patrols will begin on Saturday, October 26th, and continue until Sunday, November 3rd.

  • Patrol Hours: 10 AM to 5 PM (due to daylight savings time)
  • Patrol Locations: Widemouth, Summerleaze, Polzeath, Harlyn, Constantine, Gwithian North, Hayle, Porthtowan, Watergate Bay, Towan, Crantock, Praa Sands, Tregonhawke, Perranporth, Fistral, Sennen, Porthmeor, Mawgan Porth, Woolacombe, Croyde, Bantham, and Le Braye in Jersey.

Safety Reminders from RNLI:

  • Choose a Lifeguarded Beach: There are many lifeguarded beaches along the Cornwall and Devon coasts.
  • Swim Between the Flags: If you're swimming or bodyboarding, stay within the red and yellow flags.
  • Ask for Help: If you're unsure about anything, don't hesitate to ask an RNLI lifeguard.
  • Be Aware of Conditions: Autumn storms can create larger swells and spring tides can lead to faster currents and increased risk of tidal cut-offs.
  • Remember the "Float to Live" Technique: If you find yourself in trouble in the water, lie flat on your back, keep your arms outstretched, and allow your body to adapt to the water.
