A last-minute appeal's going out to businesses in Dawlish for funding to enable the town's carnival to go ahead this year.
If the organisers can't raise 20 thousand pounds in the next couple of weeks Dawlish will have no carnival this summer - as well as no air show or festival.
The carnival committee secretary Sue Purser says local traders benefit from the event and should be supporting it.
