Molly has yet to see her home

A family from Cullompton who had a premature baby whilst they were on holiday in Cyprus are short of £14,000 they need to fly her back to hospital in Devon.

Molly was born 16 weeks early and now is in one hospital one the Mediterranean island whilst her mother Bethany is in another an hour away.

They do get to see one another for an hour a day, but some of that time is taken with medical updates, which means they can often only bond for 20 minutes a day.

Molly's father Jan had to fly home with her two siblings.

National charity Lucy Air Ambulance for Children (Lucy AAC), is providing financial assistance as well practical guidance and medical support for Molly’s safe air ambulance transfer home. They day dealing with the stress of a premature birth is traumatic, especially for Bethany who is in a foreign country where language is a barrier and this family has no support network.

CEO of the charity Charlotte Young said: “As a small national charity that is only permitted to operate in the UK, we are doing all we can to help Molly’s family.

"We have supported the family with the organisation of an air ambulance to fly Molly and her mum back from Cyprus to a hospital closer to home, where they can receive continuity of care from the NHS. We are reaching out to our networks to ask for additional help to get this family home.”

Bethany was considered fit to fly out on holiday and her family thought their insurance was adequate. Unfortunately her daughter currently needs neo-natal hospital treatment and the medical bills of about 1,000 euros (£860) a day are mounting up. “I am so thankful to my friends for finding out about the charity Lucy Air Ambulance for Children. Charlotte has been truly amazing and I really do believe that now we have their help we will get Molly safely back to the UK.

"We really need people’s kindness to continue in our effort to raise the money we so desperately need to get us home,” said Bethany. The family is now trying to get a passport and raise money to bring her and her newborn home.
