East Devon's new town is planning its centre
East Devon Council is offering the chance to win £50 if you help design one of its town centres.
Cranbrook, the new town near Exeter Airport, which has been growing for a decade, hasn't had focal point since spades first went in the ground.
That's planned to change, with millions of pounds about to be invested in the facilities the town has been lacking.
Now the district council is stumping up £50 to people who respond to a survey.
Local people can share their ideas on how Cranbrook’s new town centre should look.
Its first shops, the beginning of a town square and a Morrisons supermarket should be finished next spring. The council has also bought four acres of land in what will become the town centre and will receive more from the developers shortly.
Council leader Paul Arnott (Lib Dem) who is also chair of the Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone, said: “This is an important opportunity for you to help shape the future of Cranbrook. Your ideas really matter. We want to hear from as many people as possible – especially young people and those who don’t normally get involved.
“Legal agreements are being put in place which mean developers will contribute millions of pounds towards facilities and spaces in the town centre, like a library and leisure centre.
The council is also holding drop-in sessions. The first is at the free Family Fun Day on Tuesday next week at Cranbrook's Younghayes Centre.
The survey is at www.eastdevon.gov.uk/cranbrook-town-centre and the closing date is 10 November.
