Firefighters awarded after house fire

"Nothing can repay them".

Firefighters who fought a house fire in February that claimed four lives have received a plaque for their efforts.

The 'green watch' at Danes Castle fire station, in central Exeter, was the first on the scene.

Daniel Rudge, his wife Kayleigh and their two children died in the blaze near Exeter St. David's station. Two other children were saved.

Members of the Demon's Motorcycle Club, of which Mr Rudge was a member, went to see the plaque presented to the team at the fire station.

Daniel's father, Mick Rudge, said: "Nothing can repay them. They saved two kids lives. Four died, but two got saved - that's the main thing."
