Measles fears for Devon children

Youngsters not immunised

Public Health England claim nearly 9-thousand youngsters across the county Devon children may not have had the jab.

Official NHS data shows only 78.8% of children in Devon who were born between April 2000 and March 2001 had been given both MMR doses by
their fifth birthday.

Recently, there's been an outbreak of measles, particularly among young people in their late teens and early twenties.

Those affected may have missed out in the early 2000s due to unfounded fears over the vaccine.

There have been 13 reported cases of measles in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay so far this year.
