Blaze broke out at The Old Well

A large fire has broken out at a garden centre just off junction 27 of the M5.

The Old Well Garden Centre, which is near Uffculme caught fire in the early hours of this morning [Friday 1 November] and three appliances and an aerial platform were initially dispatched from Cullompton, Tiverton and Taunton fire stations.

A large warehouse, which is also the main entrance to the shop, was well alight and an additional five fire crews from around the region were dispatched to assist.

Steady progress has been made, using hose reel jets, safety jets and an aerial ladder to control the fire and the incident, because of the smoke, residents in the local area are advised to keep their windows and doors closed.
