WATCH: City applaud health workers
Thousands of people across Devon, and millions across the nation, once again came together to clap for the NHS on Thursday evening.
People took to their doorsteps, gardens and balconies to thank all health workers for their superlative effort in tackling the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
Outside Exeter’s RD@E, a number of police cars and fire engines blasted out their sirens simultaneously in an eye-catching display of gratitude. Watch the short video above.
Hundreds of Royal Mail workers, who continue to work during the pandemic, also paid a special tribute outside their Exeter office – in a video that’s attracted more than 40,000 views.
Globally, there's been more than two million confirmed cases of coronavirus – one of them being Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Mr Johnson recently thanked NHS staff for saving his life after spending two days in intensive care. He also applauded, from his country home whilst recovering, on Thursday evening.
The advice remains the same. We must stay at home to protect the NHS during the outbreak - which has sadly claimed more than 15,000 lives in the UK.
