Some of the police officers who dealt with a spike in crime in Devon during the weekend have taken to social media to say the 'thin blue line' is being stretched to the limit.
Several posted on Twitter to voice their concerns.
The incident-filled weekend saw the custody cells in Exeter, Torquay and Plymouth full up on Friday night, and many officers working up to six extra hours as the string of crimes and violent incidents just kept on coming.
They included Saturday night's major ram-raid in Exeter, where there was also fighting in the City Centre, a stabbing in Dawlish and traffic disruption on the M5.
Some officers tweeted that resources are too low because the Government fails to recognise the extra pressure caused by the huge influx of tourists in the summer.
Others have asked for understanding and patience from the public.
