More funding for popular scheme

Devon's roads are set to become safer for a new generation, with over 9,000 schoolchildren receiving vital Bikeability cycle training.

The County Council has secured more than £400,000 from a £3.9 million active travel fund to expand the popular scheme.

This investment will provide youngsters with lifelong road safety skills, boost their health and wellbeing, and continue the council's 19-year legacy of training nearly 120,000 cyclists.

Councillor Stuart Hughes says it has long-term benefits, "Bikeability is a sound investment in improving the safety, health, and wellbeing of our schoolchildren, who are the cyclists of tomorrow."

Adults can also benefit from free confidence-building sessions with Active Devon.
