Devon MP criticises lack of banking hubs

Only 31 baking hubs have been set up since 2015

A Conservative MP in Devon has criticised delays in setting up banking hubs where bank branches have closed.

Anne-Marie Morris said the gap needs to be closed to allow older and vulnerable people to continue face-to-face banking.

In Teignmouth and Dawlish, the last bank is expected to close in April, but a banking hub is yet to be developed.

Citizens Advice say around 6,000 branches on the high street have closed since 2015, but only 31 banking hubs have been set up since.

Opening a new hub can take months because suitable premises need to be found, which often need changes to make sure its accessible and secure for banks.
