Devon charity funds first chemotherapy in Okehampton

Cancer patients can receive chemotherapy for the first time, thanks to the Force Cancer Charity.

Located at Okehapmton hospital, the service will be available from February 21st 2018. Patients can use the facility between 10am-4pm.

Force Cancer Charity already offers regular support and information sessions at Castle Ham Lodge in Okehampton and has set aside money from a legacy to pay for this new and important weekly service in the town.

Kieran Northcott, Exeter Foundation Trustee and Deputy Chief Executive at the Exeter Chiefs, said:

"The van is another example of the Foundation supporting the local community and we’re very pleased to do so. The charity has some real momentum and it’s good to see them doing so much great work in our community.”

Key benefits include:

  • Treatment closer to home so less travelling time and expense
  • Easier parking
  • Quieter location and treatment area
  • Reduced waiting time for treatment, both in Okehampton and Exeter
  • Experienced oncology staff from the hospital to deliver treatment
  • Access to additional FORCE services to support you and your family

It is hoped that the service will also be offered at a third location in East Devon later this year.
