Dash and prance for charity

Popular Reindeer Run returns

A local hospice charity is calling on children across Devon to join its annual festive challenge.

Throughout December, schools, pre-schools and nurseries across the region are invited to join Hospiscare’s Reindeer Run to raise vital funds for local end-of-life care.

Last year’s inaugural Reindeer Run saw 33 schools and nurseries take part, raising over £6,000 for patients and their families. The charity is hoping for another Christmas number one (event) this year.

Children of all ages can prance, dash or walk a distance of their choice with their parents, carers or teachers in this sponsored seasonal spectacle.

All reindeer running in this event will be guaranteed a fun-filled day of physical activity while helping to provide essential care and support to local people facing terminal illnesses.

Every child and young person who takes part will receive a free pack filled with stickers, games and activities, as well as letter templates for parents and lesson plans for teachers. It wouldn’t be a Reindeer Run without antlers and this year’s fundraising pack includes a make-your-own antlers kit.

Willand Pre-school and Gables Nursery took part in the event last year and Manager Claire Davey explained, “We wanted to take part because it's a very local charity that lots of our families and staff members have benefited from and the children gained a sense of helping the wider community.”

Andy Smith, Director of Progressive, says “ Supporting such a fun and meaningful event aligns perfectly with our values of giving back to the community. We can’t wait to see everyone get involved, have a great time, and raise funds for such an important cause.”
