Crime rises by 10% across South West

It's claimed that crime has risen by 10% across the South West in the last two years.

The public service union unison has produced the figure and blames cuts to police funding.

It says Devon and Cornwall police have been the hardest-hit force in the region by austerity cuts, losing a fifth of their front-line officers and other key staff.

The union claims the cuts are putting public safety at risk - and is questioning the Home Secretary Amber Rudd's insistence that lower police numbers aren't connected with a rise in crime.
