County council announces freeze in council tax

Council tax is to be frozen by Devon county council for the third year running.

About three quarters of the total tax imposed goes to the county council for services such as roads, education and libraries - much smaller amounts are charged by district councils, the fire brigade and the police.

The  leader of the council, John Hart, says they've been finding more efficient ways of working for the last few years, and they can maintain services without putting up the tax.

He says the tax freeze won't affect the road repair work planned, after last year's flooding..
