Commissioner wants volunteers to play a bigger role in policing

Devon and Cornwall police are to recruit an army of volunteers to help keep communities safer.


They're going to significantly increase the number of Special Constables, but also find other ways the public can get involved in some policing activities.

The police and crime commissioner Tony Hogg says at a time when funding and staff resources are under severe strain, it makes sense to involve the public.
