Child abuse survivor calls for better education

An Exeter woman who was abused as a child is calling for better education of staff and children in schools, so that victims find it easier to get help.

Georgina Lewis says many teachers don't know how to spot signs of abuse, or how to talk to children about the subject.

She says she's 'haunted' by the fact that her own teachers sometimes came close to finding out what was happening to her but didn't know how to get her to talk about it, so they failed to intervene.

She says because the subject is taboo, it plays into the hands of abusers.
