There are more than four and a half thousand people in Teignbridge on the social housing waiting list, and only around 289 homes allocated every year. Now the district council are considering changes which they say will make sure the right applicants are prioritised.
Teignbridge District Council's executive committee are meeting today to consider introducing a number of changes from next April.
They say they want to use social housing in the best possible way to help those who need it most.
The options they'll be discussing include removing people from the list who've already refused three properties,
and prioritising working households in areas of high unemployment.
