60 seats are up for grabs

The candidates for May’s local elections in East Devon have been revealed.

Sixty seats are to be contested by 134 candidates in 30 wards. Nearly 40 current councillors are entering the battle.

The council’s Independent leader Cllr Paul Arnott will stand as a Liberal Democrat, along with fellow cabinet members Nick Hookway, Geoff Jung and Marianne Rixson.

Conservative opposition leader Philip Skinner is standing once more – one of 53 Conservative members to contest these elections.

Seven Greens, 34 Liberal Democrats, one Liberal, six Labour, three Labour and co-operative, and 27 Independent politicians are vying to either keep or take a seat next month. A further two are not aligned to a political party.
