Exeter's MP needs sufficient support from Labour MPs before his name can go forward
Exeter's MP Ben Bradshaw has confirmed that he'll run for deputy leadership of the Labour party.
It follows several days of speculation that he'd go for the job.
Mr Bradshaw says he can help get the party back on track, as he thinks he understands the issues that lost Labour the election. He believes they can only win from the centre left of the political spectrum and that the election strategy of appealing to left wing voters only was flawed.
Mr Bradshaw now needs to gain sufficient backing from Labour MPs before his name can go on the ballot paper.
