Pensioner suspected of driving whilst unfit

A man in his seventies has been arrested following a collision on the edge of Dartmoor in which a motorbike rider suffered serious injuries.

Emergency services were called at around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday [28 August] to the incident on the A386 at Mary Tavy.

A VW Tiguan and a Honda CBR 600 motorcycle were involved.

As a result of the crash, a man in his thirties from the Launceston area was flown to Derriford by air ambulance, having severe injuries to both legs.

The road remained closed for nearly six hours once full lift of the vehicles and clean-up had taken place.

A 73-year-old man from the Exeter area was arrested on suspicion of careless driving and driving whilst unfit.

He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
