Charity fundraiser takes to sea in floating tub
When Iain Bevan came into contact with cancer a bit too much, he decided not to sit on his backside at home complaining, but sit on his backside at sea raising money.
The former Royal Navy engineer took a bath, plugged the plughole, sealed the waste pipes, set up a Just Giving page and planned to row Tor Bay.
On Sunday, in the space of two and a half hours, he safely crossed Tor Bay from Torquay to Paignton, cheered on by Sea Scouts and Beavers, as well as family and friends. Some people, he says, paid to sit on their boats in the bay to watch the stunt.
Mr Bevan undertook his unusual task in memory of his mother and father-in-law, as well as many friends he says he's lost to cancer. Cancer Research UK are the beneficiaries, and the fundraising page is open until the end of July.
