Local firms in Barnfield Crescent are backing a YMCA Exeter fundraising night that will see local people sleep out for a night to raise funds and awareness about youth homelessness.

The annual sponsored sleep-out night is part of the national YMCA Sleep Easy Week that will see supporters from local YMCAs across the country sleep out for the night and raise money YMCA services between 9 and 16 March.

The YMCA Exeter event will run from 7pm to 7am on Saturday 10th March in the grounds Barnfield Crescent. YMCAs have been running Sleep Easy events since 2010 and in Exeter, Sleep Easy has more than £150,000 for the local youth charity.

Mark Turner, from Turner Locker said: “Turner Locker Barnfield & Barnfield Crescent are very happy to be able to help with such a well deserving cause. The Crescent is an ideal location for the event and we encourage many local people to take part and support their local YMCA”.

Bethan Spencer, Head of Fundraising and Engagement at YMCA Exeter, said: “It is fantastic to have so many businesses from Barnfield Crescent on board with our Sleep Easy this year.

“The support Barnfield Crescent is providing this year is invaluable in helping us to make this year’s event even better than ever. We’re now calling on participants to sign up for the big night. By taking part in our local event you will join hundreds of supporters all over the UK for the national YMCA Sleep Easy Week. Together we can make a huge difference for local young people who are experiencing homelessness.”

Supporters who sign up to Sleep Easy are asked to pay an entry fee of £10 and raise £250 in sponsorship.
