A large solar farm near Exmouth looks likely to gain planning permission today.
Clinton Devon Estates wants to build it on land north of Liverton Farm in Salterton Road, and say the electricity it produces could be used by the nearby Liverton Business Park.
The Campaign to Protect Rural England is objecting, saying the electricity supply wouldn't be reliable, the solar farm would be an eyesore and the loss of agricultural land is worrying.
But East Devon councillors are being recommended to give conditional approval.
