Commercial plane suffered fault at 27,000 feet
Air Accident Investigators have reported on an incident last summer when a plane from Exeter to Portugal suffered a fault mid-flight.
The small aircraft, built in 1979, had just two passengers on board. The faults were minor, but caused pressure to be lost in the cabin and oxygen masks to be deployed. The pilot's mask had become entangled in items behind his seat. Although he managed to bring the aircraft down to a safe height and then return to Exeter, he subsequently reported feeling ill. No one is reported to have suffered long-term effects.
The operator's crew have been told to check that oxygen masks are not obstructed in future before they take off.
