Exeter through to second round of cup

City beat Crawley

Exeter came back from behind to progress to the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Gary Caldwell’s side found themselves one goal down early on but managed to grab two goals later to secure the win and cement their place in the next round.

With the early set back, manager Gary Caldwell made sure his voice was heard, furious at not being able to bring a player on as they're conceded from a corner with only 10 men on the pitch. Crawley found themselves in the lead after 15 minutes, thanks to a Klaidi Lolos goal.

Crawley controlled the ball for most of the game, and seemed to cause Exeter some trouble. But with both sides playing poor passes, the match was evenly poised.

After the Crawley goal, neither team looked threatening enough to create another major chance. After the break, it started like how the first half ended.

Late in the second half, Exeter started to look livelier and when Kyle Taylor scored the equaliser, ST. James Park erupted with 3,500 Grecian’s fans  finding their voices again - a respectable number for a midweek match so early in the season.

When striker James Scott scored the winner the City fan’s went wild.

The second round draw will take place later.
