Exeter City sign goalkeeper Gary Woods

Gary Caldwell's sixth signing of the January transfer window

If you thought the transfer window was over for Exeter City last night, think not. Following the deadline day arrivals of midfielder Kevin McDonald and forward James Scott, it has been announced that the Grecians have added one more player to their latest January transfers- with the signing of experienced goalkeeper Gary Woods.

He joins on a contract which will see him in red and white until the end of this season, making him the sixth signing of the transfer window.

The 32-year-old, who most recently played for Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership and becomes Gary Caldwell’s latest addition.

Woods’ youth career began at Cambridge before joining Manchester United after a few trials at Premier League clubs. This set up his first senior move to Doncaster Rovers, where he played 49 matches in the 2012/13 season as Doncaster to help them lift the League One title.

Moves to Watford, Leyton Orient and Ross County (loan) followed before he made the permanent switch north of the border, where he appeared just under 100 times in the Scottish premiership in just three seasons.
He has also played for Oldham Athletic and Aberdeen before his switch to Kilmarnock last summer.
Manager Gary Caldwell has said: "There were a few reasons why we brought Gary in. I felt like we needed a permanent number two to come in and cover should get injured or suspended, but more importantly it allows Harry Lee to go out on loan and develop his game within playing games."
