Chiefs through to the Champions Cup quarter-final

Chiefs beat Bath to send them to the quarter-finals of the Champions Cup

Exeter Chiefs are through to the quarter-finals of the Champions Cup after coming back to beat Bath at Sandy Park this afternoon. Despite finding themselves 7-12 down at half time, Chiefs fought back in the second half to secure their victory thanks to a try from Ethan Roots scoring the winning try in the final 15 minutes of the game.

Bath saw their two tries come from Thomas Du Tot and Ted Hill which were both converted. Despite having much of the ball in the first half, Chiefs could only put seven points on the board from a converted try by Ross Vincent. But Bath’s lead would be there forever as converted tries from Exeter’s Greg Fisilau and Ethan Roots saw Chiefs in the spotlight.

The full-time whistle was met by a rapturous roar from the home fans. Exeter will face either five-time competition winner Toulouse or Racing 92, their fixture is happening tomorrow and will determine Exeter’s opponents and where they will be playing.

A Chiefs home tie would happen if Racing 92 beat Toulouse, but if not, Exeter will have a weekend away in France.
